Let’s get started…
What is a Twitter Thread?
In today’s edition, I am providing you with a plug-n-play prompt to generate a Twitter thread based on a viral thread framework used by top creators.
As background, a Twitter thread is a series of related tweets from one user, posted in quick succession.
The first tweet usually introduces a topic or arguement. This is the hook to keep the reader engaged and wanting to read the subsequent tweets.
A hook must be captivating, using the principles of copywriting and human psychology.
After the hook, the subsequent tweets elaborate, provide evidence, or share related thoughts and ideas.
The entire series is connected by replies from the original user, creating a single cohesive “thread” that followers can read and engage with in its entirety.
Twitter threads are popular among creators and other users for a number of reasons:
- Expanding on ideas: Twitter has a character limit for individual tweets. If someone has a complex idea or story that can’t be expressed in just one tweet, a thread allows them to go into more detail.
- Narrative and storytelling: Threads can be used to create suspense and engagement by breaking up a story or argument into multiple parts.
- Organizing thoughts: By breaking down a complex topic into a series of tweets, the creator can help their audience better understand and follow their points.
- Increasing visibility: Each tweet in a thread is an opportunity to be seen and engaged with. More tweets often lead to more visibility and engagement.
- Boosting engagement: Threads encourage users to like, reply, and retweet multiple times, boosting the overall engagement of the content.
- Creating a content series: Threads allow creators to link together related content over time, making it easier for their followers to find and engage with a full series of thoughts or ideas.
Overall, Twitter threads are a versatile tool for creators and other users who want to share more complex or detailed content than a single tweet allows.
Plus, the Twitter algorithm favors threads, as many top creators attribute threads for their growth on Twitter.
The problem with threads though…they aren’t easy to write.
Writing threads is an art.
It takes a lot of time and practice to create threads that go viral.
The good news is, we can harness ChatGPT to leverage existing viral threads and model the structure, voice and tone for any topic of your choice.
Now, there are many different thread topics and structures.
For today’s edition of the newsletter, we are building an “Expert Secrets” thread.
The Expert Secrets Thread Structure
The best way to understand the effectiveness of this thread is to see one in the wild.
Here’s an example of an Expert Secrets thread from Nicolas Cole, who is an incredibly successful digital writer, having amassed over 500 million views and written 6 books.

Here’s a breakdown of the style, tone, voice, and structure of this thread, which we are then going to use to train ChatGPT for our prompt.
Style: The thread follows a concise, conversational style. The thread uses short sentences and bullet points, which makes it easy for the reader to digest the information. The thread also uses humor and personal experience, making the thread more relatable and interesting.
Tone: The tone of the thread is friendly, informative, and slightly informal. The thread establishes the author as an authority on the subject, but also approachable.
Voice: The voice is confident and direct, but with a touch of humility and willingness to share personal experiences and insights. It also reflects the writer’s enthusiasm and passion for the subject.
Structure: The thread begins with an introduction where the author shares his experience and achievements. This is followed by a series of templates, each with a brief explanation and structure. The thread ends with a call-to-action (CTA) inviting the readers to explore the author’s product.
The Prompt
Now, using Nicolas Cole’s thread as our example template, along with an analysis of the style, tone, voice and structure, we can give ChatGPT everything it needs to create a viral twitter thread.
Here’s the prompt:
Act as an expert copywriter and creator of twitter threads. I want you to write a twitter thread based on the template provided below. Here are the rules for writing the thread:

Final Thoughts
Now, even with that template, it still may be difficult for you to fill out the subsequent tweets.
Even though this thread is meant to draw upon your experience and expertise, if you need inspiration, try running the prompt without all of your inputs.
Just tell ChatGPT about the main topic and what your achievement is, and it will fill out the thread for you.
Of course ChatGPT will be making up some information to complete the thread.
But it will still give you a headstart for replacing the content with your own insights and experience.
That’s it for today.
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s edition of the newsletter to level-up your prompt-game.
Happy prompting!
