Let’s get started…

In today’s edition of the newsletter, we are going to build sales battle cards.

Sales battle cards are like cheat sheets for sales reps.

Battle cards contain key pieces of information about a product, a service, or a company, including:

Unique Selling Proposition (USP): This is what sets the product or service apart from competitors. It’s a clear and concise statement that explains why a customer should choose this specific product or service over others.

Product Features and Benefits: This is a detailed breakdown of the product or service’s key features and the benefits they provide to customers.

Competitive Analysis: This includes information about the competition’s products or services, strengths, and weaknesses.

Objection Handling: This section provides responses to common objections or concerns that prospects may raise during the sales process.

Customer Success Stories/Testimonials: These are stories or quotes from satisfied customers that can be used to build credibility and demonstrate the value of the product or service.

FAQs: This is a list of frequently asked questions along with their answers. This can help the sales rep quickly and accurately answer common queries from prospects.

The goal of these battle cards is to empower the sales team with knowledge and strategies to confidently engage with prospects, overcome objections, differentiate their offerings, and ultimately close more deals.

Here’s an example battle card I grabbed from Google Images and SmartBug Media.

In general, battle cards are great for organizations and their sales reps.

But if you’ve ever been in sales, or sales training, you know how important it is to align your messaging with the personality type and character traits of your prospect to close more deals.

So, while you may start ourt with a general battle card for your product/service, you’ll want to adjust your battle card talking points based on the personality profile of your prospect.

Up until now, this involved a lot of research and note taking.

Checking company websites.

Googling.

Reading LinkedIn profiles.

Etc…

Enter ChatGPT.

With our new-found A.I. friend, we can now get specific talking points based on the bio of the prospect in just a matter of minutes.

Let’s do it.

Prompt Prerequisites

Now, before we can execute this prompt, you need two things:

  1. ChatGPT Plus account ($20/mth)
  2. Enable “Browse with Bing”

In case you weren’t aware, OpenAI recently released their web browsing functionality via Bing, along with plugins that take ChatGPT to another level

So you now have the ability to browse the web, summarize YouTube videos, plan trips with Expedia, get company sales data, and a lot more.

For our purposes today, we are going to use “Browse with Bing.”

To enable, just hover over the GPT-4 toggle and select “Browse with Bing”

And that’s it.

Now, we can build our battle card talking points prompt.

The Prompt

For the prompt, you need two inputs:

  • The bio of your prospect
  • Your company info (based on the purpose of the call, ie. battle card data, product/service info, etc…)

Note: For the bio, you can either copy and paste the bio from LinkedIn (ChatGPT is still unable to read LinkedIn profile data), or provide a link to the bio on a company page.

For this particular prompt, I picked a target prospect and company at random. In the example, let’s say the target prospect is the CEO of ButcherBox (I just listened to a podcast about the success of ButcherBox), and our company is Impactplus.com, and we offer sales and marketing coaching (I am not affiliated with Impact but I’m a big fan of their work).

Copy and paste the following prompt:

As a meticulous, detail-oriented, and customer-centric sales professional, you’re preparing for an important sales call with a potential client. Below, you’ll find a detailed biography of the prospect. Drawing from this information, craft 5 persuasive talking points that illuminate the key applications of the PRODUCT during your conversation.

PRODUCT: Sales and marketing coaching. Details found here: https://www.impactplus.com/services/sales-marketing-coaching-training

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, sales battle cards, armed with the power of AI, can help revolutionize the way sales reps approach their prospects.

ChatGPT, with its browsing functionality, brings an immense advantage to the table, allowing for the quick generation of personalized talking points based on a prospect’s bio.

This cuts down on time spent researching, and ensures that messaging is tailored to resonate with the individual prospect’s personality and interests.

With a ChatGPT Plus account and the “Browse with Bing” feature enabled, sales reps can create detailed, personalized battle cards effortlessly.

This opens up new avenues for sales professionals, promising increased efficiency and a higher likelihood of closing deals.

Happy prompting and I will see you into tomorrow’s edition of the newsletter!
